  • First Nations National Building Officers Association 5731 Old Highway #2 - P.O. Box 219 Shannonville, Ontario, K0K 3A0 Canada (map)

Webinar Description

TFN faces new realities, continuing financial and social pressures, and increasing demand for more to be done in the housing sector. TFN’s Housing Strategy provides bold and realistic responses to our many challenges. The Comprehensive Housing Strategy emphasizes gaps and work to be done under 9 key themes. The TFN Comprehensive Housing Strategy (CHS) acknowledges that the government’s role as a housing provider goes beyond building residential structures to meet the needs of residents who make TFN their home. It is meant to be a wrap-around solution to support each TFN resident resulting in strengthening the social fabric and improved management of TFN’s member housing resources in a socially, environmentally, and culturally viable manner. It acknowledges the importance of collaboration with stakeholders, building relationships with strategic alliances, with other service providers and all levels of governments, as well as the private sector to achieve common goals that help achieve self-reliance and well being for the whole community.

In this webinar we are going to learn:

About the TFN context – as a self-governed treaty first nation and the various planning initiatives as well as the development of the comprehensive housing strategy and affordable housing options for members, that is code compliant (NBC and BCBC), focusing on the challenges, gaps, opportunities, process and implementation through various grants, capital support and capacity building that will help manage TFN’s member housing resources and supporting facilities in a resilient manner.
